SCOPE OF DUTIES: Under the clinical supervision of the Clinical Director and the operations supervision of the Program Director, the Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts will assess clients, evaluate medical necessity for treatment services, complete and update treatment plans, and provide therapeutic counseling. The therapist shall work as an integrated team member in collaboration with key program staff to assist in meeting the overall needs of participants, demonstrating and supporting the principles and values of the Therapeutic Community.
- Perform client screening and assessment using the ASAM Criteria complete admission or referral.
- Assess for continuing stay criteria based on ASAM Criteria every 30 days following the initial assessment to measure change and guide continuing care or aftercare plans.
- Assess and document medical necessity for treatment and complete diagnosis based on DSM 5 evaluation.
- Provide assessment to the Medical Director and consult on treatment plan.
- Deliver treatment using trauma informed approach and evidenced based practice protocols
- Work with the AOD Counselor and Case Manager to design/implement an individualized treatment plan for each client.
- Provide individual, group and family counseling.
- Lead case conferences and utilization review meetings.
- Maintain complete, timely, confidential and accurate treatment records.
- Provide field-based services as indicated
- Ensure adherence to DMC-ODS Waiver, Title XXII, and CARF standards and actively support quality assurance and utilization management protocols.
- Act as a client advocate to agencies and persons when appropriate.
- Respond to client crises and emergencies as needed.
- Participate in routine clinical supervision with the Clinical Director.
- Attend staff meetings, case conferences, required training to ensure continuum and quality of care.
- Assist with training and/or education projects for staff, residents, community, etc.
- Serve as a role model through positive, appropriate conduct and participation in special agency events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge obtained through completion of a Masters Degree curriculum of an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
- BBS licensure as a licensed practitioner of the healing arts as required by funding/regulating sources.
- Knowledge and experience in substance use disorder and mental health treatment and recovery
- Ability to develop rapport with criminal justice and substance-abusing populations.
- Ability to apply organizational management skills and documentation skills
- Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
- Ability to prepare and maintain required documentation.
- Ability to comply with internal, local, state, and federal regulations and policies.
- Ability to work and communicate with others as a team member.
- Ability to demonstrate cultural humility, competency and sensitivity;
- Bi-lingual skills preferred.
