Our first dedicated community campus for women parolees, La Entrada opened in January 2021. This is our only all women campus and we are very excited to have opened this project.

At La Entrada, we help students with beginning to break the multigenerational cycles of substance abuse, trauma, and violence through family reunification, parenting workshops, meditation, yoga and other learning plans. Additionally, we partner with numerous agencies to provide vocational, GED, educational and employment services.

This 60-bed residential community provides whole-person services during the last 45 days to 2 years of the students' sentence. That is, within the sanctuary of a teaching community, student teach and learn from one another. This accelerates learning and growth in the physical, intellectual, spiritual, emotional and moral spheres. Change comes slowly and steadily and it takes time. It has long been proven in the research that having students for one year or more greatly increases the chances for success in the future.

The women are truly rising to the occasion and taking full advantage of opportunities to speak about and process their life experience so as not to make the same choices again. Many women have shared that had they had this opportunity when they were first arrested, their lives would have been very different.

Both students and faculty are grateful and delighted for this chance.
