Wendy Thompson
Associate Director of Training and Technical Assistance

Wendy Thompson serves as the Associate Director of Training and Technical Assistance, for the Care First Community Investment project (CFCI), Third Party Administrator (TPA), which is responsible for awarding Measure J funds to underserved communities.  She has worked for Amity Foundation since August 2018, in the role of Advocate for the Specialized Treatment for Optimized Programming (STOP).  Prior to working for Amity Foundation, she has worked for the last 20 years with underserved communities as front-line advocacy, outreach, management, and coordinator of all aspects of Family Reunification, Homelessness, Survivors of Domestic Violence and most recently, Re-entry.

Wendy brings both lived as well as professional experience to this effort, as she has been homeless and has been in recovery for over 22 years.  Her second chance was given when hired by Tenderloin Housing Clinic in San Francisco a non-profit housing agency, where she was hired as a receptionist and soon progressed to Support Services Manager.  While in San Francisco, she volunteered for their annual homeless count and was a member of the Homelessness Council which started Project Homeless Connect in 2007.  To balance personal and professional she serves on the Black Lesbians United retreat committee every year, to provide a safe and healing space for Black Woman to experience workshops, music, healing, and drumming circles all while being surrounded by mother nature.  Wendy also finds peace and enjoyment as a mixed media artist, riding her Indian motorcycle and frequently embarrassing her two grandchildren.

She is excited to have been chosen to work with and outstanding team in the implementation of CFCI TPA project, this will empower organizations that have already been doing the work in the community, make a larger impact.
