About Us

The goal of Amity’s Employment Services team as a whole is to provide training and educational support to students who have histories of incarceration or could be victims of violence in the community. Throughout their training programs, we assist students with their job search and placement. This department is rapidly growing as you can see by the photos of our team above and below. There are a total of 6 programs for these services. Some additional focuses and goals of this team are as follows:

•Collaboration with Workforce Investment Boards

•Collaboration with Community Based Providers

•Vocational Training

•Education Coordination (including Project Rebound, LAUSD, Community Colleges)

•Job Retention and Livable Wages

•Housing Support and Case Management

•Development of ~400 Units of Permanent Supportive Housing

•Housing BSCC Rental Assistance

•Collaboration with CES

  • Program Objectives:

    Pre-employment 8-week training program to prepare individuals with soft skills for entry-level positions in social services. Students receive training in case management, Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), field outreach, Mental Health First Aid, CPR/First Aid, motivational interviewing, and Trauma Informed Care.

    Requirements:

    Justice Involvement, Lived experience with homelessness or veteran status. I-9 Documents (Social security card, Valid state ID).

    Supports Available:

    Case management, job development, occupational therapy services, resume, cover letter, and mock interview assistance.

  • Program Objectives:

    Employment training program supporting formerly incarcerated individuals to build skills and connect them to career pathways in Substance Use Counseling (18 months) or Facility Maintenance Technician (6 weeks).

    Requirements:

    18+ years old, passion for helping others, Justice Involvement, I-9 Documentation

    Supports Available:

    Paid Work Experience Internship up to 300 hours, intensive case management and coaching, supportive services, employment services.
